ORIGIN OF THE NAME "PRATA RIVER"
The crewmembers of the expedition of Juan Díaz de Solís found in the area natives that gave them silver objects that were taken to Spain about 1524, from where arose the legend of the existence of a silver mountain, which denominated " Sierra del Plata ".
